SPECTACULAR DRUM CIRCLES

Group drumming has existed since the first communities walked our planet.  They drummed to energize, create wholeness, empower, heal, relax and heighten creativity. No matter what our age and ability, whenever we hear drumming, we all begin to move to those universal rhythms inside us. Scientific research now validates the health benefits we can experience while drumming. Rhythm is in our DNA and drumming is a tool we can use to tap into that natural essence. When we are in touch with our own rhythm, we are deeply connected to a powerful force. This force creates balance, harmony, healing, energy, peace and happiness in our life.

A community drum circle is a group of people who come together to make in-the-moment, improvisational music. No musical experience is necessary! Facilitation means "to make easy" and as a professional drum circle facilitator, Melinda naturally creates an atmosphere of fun, ease and excitement while helping every participant feel comfortable and welcome. Melinda initiates a few rhythm starters, the circle begins to move and grove, then the magic begins.

Melinda's drum circles are phenomenally fun and have been described as "the most exciting drum circles around!" No two drum circles are ever the same, even when they are at the same location each month. Melinda welcome all kinds of drums and percussion - hand drums, frame drums, shakers, bells, wood instruments, etc. In fact, better sounding drum circles always have a wide variety of instruments being played, not just a wall of drums. Dancers are also welcome! Drum circles are about listening and responding. Listen to the rhythms you hear and see how you can respond.   

There are some basic guidelines to consider that will greatly enhance your drum circle experience. Play loud enough to contribute, without playing too loud. Make sure you can hear the other drummers around you. Think of what you are contributing.  Always follow the heartbeat of the rhythm, the base, its what you tap your feet to. If you feel lost, stop, listen and find the base, then build your rhythm from there. 

Most importantly – HAVE FUN!

Mother Earth now approaches the midwinter holiday of Imbolc.  We enter a time of awakening from hibernation and acknowledging our individual gifts with supportive action.

Join us as we plant seeds of inspiration and invoke our personal power through the universal language of rhythm and making music as a community.  Come bang a drum, have some fun and celebrate the new life which is awakening within you.  Included in the evening’s festivities will be a special Personal Power Invocation. 

A limited number of drums are provided or you may bring your own. PLEASE NOTE  - seats and drums go quickly.  Early arrival is recommended to reserve your drum and your space for what is sure to be a spectacular evening!

Please be aware that young children are not permitted at this drum circle.  The Temple environment and the nature of these gatherings is for adults and mature, older children only.  Many thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
