the Monday, summertime blues…on a Drum!
I am opening my home once again to host Monday night drum classes
this summer with new lower price options and discounts on upcoming events.
We
will explore West African and Afro-Cuban rhythms for the Djembe and Dunun.
Specific exercises & techniques will be covered
to help develop and strengthen our inner rhythm along with exploring a
basic solo and how to contribute to a musical ensemble or drum circle.
This
class is designed for all levels of drummers.
Beginners will be given simple accompaniments to help develop skill
and technique while advanced drummers will be given more difficult
accompaniments with an emphasis on polishing tones and slaps. As part of our
DNA, drumming awakens our natural ability to reduce stress, strengthen the
immune system and release endorphins revealing an over all sense of well
being. Group drumming is an
excellent workout and has the amazing ability to relax and invigorate
simultaneously. Participants will walk away feeling fantastic!
No rhythmical or musical experience necessary.
All drums and percussion are provided or you may bring your own. Fees are $15
per class or $40 for the full 4 weeks and can be paid at the first class.

rhythm in the enchanted gardens at Four Crows.
Through the pulse of the drum and the magic of making music, you
will awaken and refresh your body, mind & Spirit. These
experiential full-day workshops are designed for anyone and everyone interested
in exploring hand drumming techniques and traditional African music.
Whether you are a beginning beginner or have been drumming for a while,
these classes will take you to the next level and reveal your highest
potential as you tap into your own inner rhythm. The
first class in the series will explore traditional West African Rhythms
for both the djembe and the African bass drums, dununs.
Traditional dance movements will also be presented for anyone
interested in connecting with rhythm through their body.
The second class in the series will explore Afro-Cuban rhythms for
the djembe and dununs, bell patterns, time signatures and dance movements.
Each class
will also cover specific exercises to help develop and strengthen your
inner rhythm. Through
concentrated study, you will have the opportunity to truly integrate the
rhythms and techniques that are covered.
Participants will also have the optional opportunity for an evening
recital. This
is your opportunity to gather in a community of rhythm with people of like
mind and No rhythmical or musical experience necessary. All drums and percussion are provided or bring your own.
